The Review:
Been using Redline lubricants since the mid-90s, and they've been great. I used to use 10W40, but in recent years I've moved to 10W30.
In terms of engine protection, the Redline 10W30 has the shear strength greater than almost any synthetic xxW40 synthetic apart from Shell Helix Extra that's not available locally. I don't drive hard, so I'm comfortable using 10W30 instead of 10W40.
Choosing 5W40 does not make sense here where the coldest morning is not going to be lower than 20C. Wider viscosity oils need more thickeners and thicken at higher temp, which is not ideal.
